This morning I woke up quite late because I got hit with jet lag and didn’t get much sleep. But, I persevered and headed to the beach to relax and recuperate from my miserable night. The fresh sea air made me feel better and I got to my cousin’s Lido by noon. They were getting ready to eat when I arrived – Italians love their food and are passionate about eating on time – but I didn’t want to eat just yet so, instead, I set up my towel on the beach in the shade of the base of the Lido. Again the beach was deserted.

I read, slept and woke up refreshed. I made my way up the stairs to the Lido and decided to help my cousin paint one of his custom made bamboo umbrellas. I have so much trouble doing nothing. I’m hoping to find a cure for this while I’m here! At 4:30 p.m. I head back to my apartment. Along the way, I see some beautiful buildings as well as some beautiful plants (yes, that aloe plant is really that blue) and flowers. I arrive and snack on the sweetest grapes I’ve ever had. Life is good!

Tonight I have no plans except to walk along the boardwalk, have a slice of pizza, maybe some ice cream for dessert and then get a good night’s rest. Tomorrow early morning I’m off to the “Marcato delle Vecchie” (Old Ladies’ Market). Until then, buona notte.
