Saturday I woke up worried about my cousin Fabio (Frank’s brother). He went to the hospital the night before, not feeling well. Fabio too has a Lido right next to Frank’s. The amount of work involved in running these Lidos is incredible; from hosting guests all summer (feeding them, renting beach umbrellas and chairs, providing cabins for changing and showering) and then taking down most of the structures to put in storage for the winter months to avoid any damage from the strong sea current. It’s vary labour intensive and stressful. Making a living at the beach is no picnic. I’m hoping Fabio gets better soon❤️

I spent a quiet weekend at the beach with Frank and Silvia, enjoying great food and wine, taking in the glorious sea air and swimming in the crystal waters. On Sunday morning, I roasted the chestnuts I purchased at Friday’s market and shared with family and new friends at the beach. On Sunday, most stores are closed so everyone gets a chance to spend the day with family and friends and catch up on the latest gossip.

Two weeks have just flown by and I start my last week in Soverato tomorrow. Then on to Reggio Calabria, Sicily and Milan. Lots more traveling to do and photos to take but I already know I’m going to miss spending time with my family.
