This morning I departed via train for Reggio Calabria. The train’s route is all along the coast line and the views of the sea are stunning, made even more so for the fact that most of the area is undeveloped and still wild. It’s worth taking the train just for the views and a lot of locals do this as well. First photo reminds you to take a seat where windows aren’t splattered with graffiti😆 and second photo is taken at one of the train stops along the way, Bovalino.

Two hours later, I arrive at Reggio Calabria and take a quick taxi ride to my hotel which overlooks the sea and has stunning views.

It’s a hot and sunny day so I quickly head out to walk “lungomare”, a boardwalk named the most beautiful kilometre of Italy (1.7 km to be exact). On one side you have beautiful vistas of the sea, and on the other side, you have views of the historic city centre. It’s lined with palm trees, huge street lamps and various areas for relaxing and enjoying the views. It’s a magical experience.

As I arrived on a Monday and all shops and museums were closed, I walked the city centre and visited the Cathedral of Reggio (no photos allowed inside) and the famous shopping district on Corso Giuseppe Garibaldi, the main pedestrian street, to window shop.

I was emotionally and physically tired today so I had a quiet night and got caught up on my blog while watching the sun set from the desk in my room. Tomorrow I plan to explore more of this beautiful capital of Calabria.
